Master Chief William “Bill” Caraballo was born and raised in New York (The Bronx). He enlisted in the Navy in October 1988 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Center in San Diego, California and then reported to the mess specialist “A” school at the Naval Technical Center.

 

His previous sea assignments include USS Jouett (CG 29), San Diego, California; USS Duluth (LPD 6), San Diego, California, Plankowner of USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; command senior chief mine countermeasure crew leader embarked aboard USS Chief (MCM 14); USS Warrior (MCM 10), San Diego, California; USS Ardent (MCM 12), USS Dexterous (MCM 13) Manama, Bahrain, Command Master Chief of Strike Fighter Squadron 105 (VFA 105) Gunslingers in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and command master chief of Commander Carrier Air Wing 3 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

 

On shore, Caraballo has served at bachelor enlisted quarters, Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center in San Diego, California, officer in charge of Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Veques Island, Puerto Rico, leading supply/3M inspector for Afloat Training Group Western Pacific in Yokosuka, Japan and command master chief of Norfolk Naval Station, the largest Naval Station in the world. In December 2016, he became the command master chief of Navy Recruiting District New York.

 

He is a graduate of the senior enlisted academy and the command master chief leadership course. Master Chief Caraballo’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards) and various unit and campaign awards. He has earned the Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist Insignia and the enlisted surface warfare specialist insignia.

 

He is a veteran of eight deployments in support of operations DESERT SHIELD, VIGILANT SENTINEL, SOUTHERN WATCH, DESERT STRIKE, IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.
