Cmdr. Pat W. Hart is from Pensacola, FL and is a graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. He was commissioned in 2001 following completion of officer candidate school in Pensacola, FL. He completed pilot training with the VT-21 Redhawks in Kingsville, TX and was designated a Naval aviator in December 2002. 

After initial qualification in the S-3B Viking with Sea Control Squadron Four One (VS-41) in San Diego, CA, he was assigned to Sea Control Squadron Two Four (VS-24) in Jacksonville, FL. While assigned to the "Scouts", he deployed aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in support of operation IRAQI FREEDOM and flew overland combat missions supporting Multi-National Division Southeast. He held positions as the line division officer, administrative officer and landing signals officer (LSO) and was named the Sea Control Wing Junior Pilot of the Year in 2006. 

Cmdr. Hart was selected for transition to the F/A-18C and completed initial qualification in the Hornet with the "Rough Raiders" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Two Five (VFA-125). He was then assigned to the Forward-Deployed Naval Forces in Atsugi, Japan with Strike Fighter Squadron One Nine Five (VFA-195). While assigned to the "Dambusters", he completed multiple deployments aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) and USS George Washington (CVN-73) in support of RIMPAC, Talisman Sabre and various exercises. He served as the line division officer, training and readiness officer and safety officer. 

Cmdr. Hart then attended the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI where he earned a Master's Degree and completed JPME phase 1. After selection as an aviation department head and transition to the F/A-18E, he was assigned to the "Pukin' Dogs" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Four Three (VFA-143) in Virginia Beach, VA and completed two deployments aboard USS Dwight Eisenhower (CVN-69) in support of operation ENDURING FREEDOM. While attached to VFA-143, he served as the safety officer, maintenance officer and operations officer. 

He was then assigned to Special Operations Command, Pacific in Aiea, HI as deputy division chief for air operations. At SOCPAC, he was an operational planner for Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines (JSOTF-P) and was the lead planner for coordinating the CV-22 Osprey deployment to Yokota AB, Japan.

He holds a Master's Degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College. His personal decorations include the Air Medal (Strike/Flight, 2 awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He has over 2,500 flight hours and 735 carrier arrested landings.
