Master Chief Jonathon Redfield is a native of Flemington, NJ and enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1992. After completing recruit training in Orlando, FL, and the P-3 flight engineer training pipeline in Jacksonville, FL, he reported to Patrol Squadron EIGHT (VP-8) in Brunswick, ME followed by Patrol Squadron TWO SIX (VP-26) also in Brunswick, ME. After completing these tours of duty, he transferred to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO ZERO (VX-20) in Patuxent River, MD. During this tour he was initiated into the chief petty officer ranks.
 
His next tour of duty was with Patrol Squadron NINE (VP-9), Kaneohe Bay, HI where he served as the operations department leading chief petty officer and senior instructor. Next he reported to Officer Training Command, Newport, RI where he served as the lead recruit division commander and operations department leading chief petty officer.
 
In February 2011, he was selected to the command senior chief program and in May 2013 was promoted to the rank of master chief petty officer.
 
His served as command senior chief of USS Kauffman (FFG-59), command master chief of VAW-124 in Norfolk, VA and is presently assigned as command master chief of NRD New England, Boston, MA.
 
Master Chief Redfield is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 62 and holds a Bachelor of Science in administration and management studies from Excelsior College.
 
Master Chief Redfield's personal awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (two strike flight awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards) and various unit and campaign awards. He is qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Naval Aircrewman.
