A native of Kansas, Commander Christopher Webster joined the Navy under the nuclear propulsion officer candidate instructor program while attending Kansas State University in 1997. Upon graduation with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, he received his commission and attended officer indoctrination school in Newport, Rhode Island.


Cmdr. Webster’s first assignment was to the Navy Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) in Charleston, South Carolina. From November 1999 through January 2004, he taught enlisted Sailors in the subjects of heat transfer and reactor principles. Webster then reported to NRD Kansas City in 2004 as the enlisted programs officer. Leading more than 100 Sailors and civilians, he was responsible for the enlisted recruiting mission of a four-state area.


In October 2006, Commander Webster reported to OPNAV (N122) as the enlisted manpower analyst. His primary responsibility was to manage the enlisted billet database balancing Navy budget and end strength controls. From OPNAV, Cmdr. Webster transferred to the Naval postgraduate school in June 2009, earning a Master of Science in operations research.


Following graduation, Webster reported to USS Nimitz (CVN-68) in October 2011 as the training officer, responsible for training, travel and command indoctrination for 3,000 Sailors. He led the carrier through the train-up cycle and a successful West Pac, Arabian Gulf and Med Deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition, he qualified and served as officer of the deck underway.


Commander Webster returned to OPNAV (N123) in September 2013 as the joint requirements section head where he managed all Navy positions assigned to combatant commands, OSD and defense agencies. After a year, he was selected to be the deputy branch head for the joint and medical manpower requirements branch and later moved on to the deputy branch head of the Navy education strategy and policy branch (N127).


In May 2016, Webster assumed responsibility as the executive officer, Navy Recruiting District Denver and in ceremonies conducted December 2017 assumed command of Navy Recruiting District Denver.


Cmdr. Webster’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards) and selection as the 2013 Human Resources Junior Officer of the Year.
