Force Master Chief (AW/SW/IDW) Eddie L. Knight, force master chief of Navy Recruiting Command (NRC), visited recruiting stations throughout Navy Recruiting District (NRD) – Dallas, March 7-11.

The visits throughout NRD Dallas and other Texas based stations is part of Knight’s personal initiative to visit multiple recruiting stations throughout each district NRC oversees.

“It’s very important for the recruiters and the entire team in the recruiting district to see that the senior leadership cares,” said Knight. “We can say that we care all day but actions speak louder than words.”
Knight said he chose to travel to each station instead of them coming to him so their work in the field would not be interrupted.

Knight’s journey throughout the districts is not limited to Texas. Previously, Knight visited NRD San Antonio where he logged 1,100 miles on the rental he checked out of the airport there. He will continue his visits to other districts throughout the nation.

Knight is not alone in his initiative to visit recruiting stations as Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (AW/NAC) Michael D. Stevens and Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. Bill Moran have each visited recruiting districts along the East and West coasts. During his trip through NRD Dallas, Knight crossed paths with Cdr. David Nikodym, commanding officer of NRD Dallas, who was also visiting stations in west Texas.

“I think it’s better for us to come out and see exactly what they experience on a day-to-day basis at the recruiting stations,” said Knight. “It’s good to be one on one with the recruiters out there because they are doing a very difficult job.”

During Knight’s visit to Dallas, he spoke with military and civilian personnel at NRD Dallas’ headquarters in Irving, Texas about his travels so far and took questions about the state of U.S. Navy recruiting on both the civilian and military sides of the mission.
